SOCIAL AWARENESS

Every the CAMH has an event titled the bed push, the purpose is to give the public an idea of what mental health means. They march down the streets with posters and actual facility beds wheeling mock clowns tied down as a metaphorical statement. The plans for a better year are announced, demands of dignity are made, often by mega phone. Actual changes happen when the city councilors realize the real insanity of not helping the sick. They are invited so they can see for themselves how mad doctors can get. The doctors will dress up like mad scientists and push the councilors to reach decisions for the development means. It is then public that adds to the social awareness of the institution. This is what happens at CAMH Toronto every year.
